In this crowded book marketplace, people generally need to hear an author speak publicly about his/her message/story (e.g., through speaking engagements, interviews, etc.) before deciding to buy that author's book. They must buy into the author before buying into the book. Book sales are merely a lagging indicator of how many people to whom the author is speaking about his/her message/story.
